J.J Beano's provided coffee machines at Roadchef's WHSmith convenience stores.
A trial took place at the forecourts at Strensham in June 2003, co-branded with Roadchef. J.J Beano's were a new company who were following a model which had successfully been adopted by Coffee Nation at Welcome Break.
Coffee Nation felt snubbed by Roadchef, but commented that the company had been won over by J.J Beano's using cheaper coffee beans to lower costs. Roadchef eventually sold all their petrol stations, but the relationship flourished, and by 2012 every Roadchef site had a J.J Beano's section within its retail store, selling tea, coffee and hot chocolate as well as a selection of snacks and cold drinks.
After Costa turned Coffee Nation into Costa Express, Roadchef replaced all their J.J Beano's units with Costa Express, as they had been closely associated with the Costa brand for some time.
