Arlo's: Difference between revisions

m Got confused with Cherwell and Wetherby as they are so similar!
m I think it's key that Moto last tweeted about Arlo's on 22 November 2019. I agree that probably points to a December closure, but I think the decision was made in November. Also I hate how every single sentence on this website starts with the word "in"!

In early 2019, the Reading and Wetherby branches were made smaller. Under the new title '''Breakfast @ Arlo's''', they were only open in the mornings to serve breakfast, with [[Chow]] taking over the same unit in the afternoon. In doing so they save space for more popular fast food units.

In doing so they were able to save space for more popular fast food units.

However in December 2019, the majority of the Arlo's restaurants, including the three Breakfast @ Arlo's units, were closed and boarded up by Moto in favour of the more popular fast food units supporting the fact that the sit down restaurant trade is in its final years.
Further changes came later in the year. Moto stopped promoting Arlo's in November 2019, and a few weeks later the majority of Arlo's restaurants were closed. This leaves more space for popular fast food names, but is further evidence that the sit-down restaurant trade is being phased out.

Arlo's is Moto's self-branded restaurant. It was first introduced to Chieveley in 2015 and was rolled out to Moto's neighbouring services during the first half of 2016.

It is themed around a patisserie, usually accompanied by a thorough redesign of the serving area. Unusually for Moto, the coffee served is not Costa but Extract Coffee Roasters.

Although it is functionally the same as the EDC it replaced, the revised menu and layout created a fresher appeal and one which Moto hopes will see a higher turnover. It has now become one of their preferred catering brands, but there still aren't many branches, as its introduction is usually accompanied by a thorough refurbishment.

Arlo's was one of a number of catering experiments Moto were looking at around the same time. Others included franchised branches of Harvester, and a pub brand called Bar & Grill.

In early 2019, the Reading and Wetherby branches were made smaller. Under the new title Breakfast @ Arlo's, they were only open in the mornings to serve breakfast, with Chow taking over the same unit in the afternoon. In doing so they were able to save space for more popular fast food units.
