Northampton was originally built as 'Rothersthorpe services'. It was waiting 20 years before it was built, and before too long it was demolished and built again. Full history.

The southbound Costa Drive Thru opened on 25 August 2017. A northbound one joined it almost two years later in June 2019.

A LEON was added to the northbound building in July 2019 in yet another extension to the front of the building.

The northbound WHSmith store was refurbished in November 2022 and now includes a new Calippo Blast machine alongside new ranges and a new layout.

Western Power Distribution is planning to increase the electricity capacity at Northampton, to allow it to potentially become a charging hub in the future.
