The legendary Mexican-style fast food chain Taco Bell has been on a push to expand its presence across the UK. This included opening branches at A-road service areas from August 2022, which brought them up to 100 UK branches.
Their roadside stores are normally in new-build units built next to A-roads, with a drive thru facility, mainly operated by their franchise partner The Adil Group. More such units are expected to open.
Meanwhile, Welcome Break announced in 2024 that they will be operating Taco Bell units, starting with a store at South Mimms. This was actually the second branch at a motorway service area, as one had already opened at Folkestone services in January 2023.
Following a successful trial at South Mimms for Welcome Break over Summer 2024, more units opened over Winter 2024/2025.
