m probably best not to mention that, as there are legal consequences and it sounds voyeuristic

In 1984 a [[Little Chef]] was built here. It closed in 2005 and became Mickey's Diner followed by Fab's Diner. In July 2011, former employee Daniel Freeman set fire to the restaurant as revenge against his boss for promoting him and giving him extra responsibilities when he was experiencing anxiety and stress. The restaurant now sits empty and derelict to this day. In 2006 there were plans to demolish the building and replace it with a large, two-storey motel.

Trivia and History

Burned out building.
The former diner, bare and burned out.

Despite being only a mile from Gate on the westbound side, Harbledown is in an entirely different district.

The land to the north of the A2 was divided into small sections, one of which was purchased by a garage in the late 1960s. Despite it being set back from the road, subsequent expansion has brought it very close to the upgraded road.

In 1984 a Little Chef was built here. It closed in 2005 and became Mickey's Diner followed by Fab's Diner. The building was set on fire in July 2011, following a dispute with a former employee. The restaurant now sits empty and derelict to this day. In 2006 there were plans to demolish the building and replace it with a large, two-storey motel, but this didn't happen.

The petrol station was formerly a Texaco with a Star Market store. This changed to BP in 2016, with new pumps being installed and a Spar store being introduced. The filling station is now operated by JRN Garages Limited.

The hotel, positioned next to the road, is accessed from a deceptively stylish driveway at the back. It was first proposed in 1994 as a 50-bed hotel with a renewal of the planning permission in 1997. A separate application was also submitted in 1997 with proposals for a 89-bed hotel. The hotel opened in around 1999.
