m This page still had 'survey results' 😲 . I've tried to clarify it a bit. Would love to get a photo, but I'm not expecting anyone to buy a ferry ticket to Calais just for this!

Trivia and History

The terminal buildings were built by Welcome Break under Fortes' ownership, probably attracted to it by the opening of the increasing importance of the Dover Strait as a trading route. The facilities became property of Granada when they took over the company in 1995. As it wasn't a motorway service area, Granada weren't forced to sell it off, so they kept it and it is now run by their successors, Moto.

In 2007, Welcome Break opened a similar site a few miles down the road in the Eurotunnel, which they ran until 2013.

Until 2016, a Caffe Ritazza outlet was still advertised on the big screens next to each dock here, even though it hadn't existed as part of the facilities here for some time.
