Trivia and History
The new Commerce Business Park opened in 2006, with a new roundabout on the Frome Bypass. This predominantly industrial development included land that had been zoned for use by retailers, a hotel, a pub-restaurant and a filling station.
The hotel and restaurant opened as a Premier Inn and the 'Frome Flyer' branch of Table Table at the same time as the business park. The pub-restaurant gains its name from a reference to local Formula 1 driver Jenson Button; the hotel is positioned close to the junction of Jenson Avenue and Marshall Way. The hotel received a two-storey 44-bedroom extension in 2011. The restaurant became a Beefeater in 2017.
The filling station was the last addition to the business park and opened in February 2019 as a Shell site with a Subway store operated by Falcon Retail. As a result of the new addition, this was celebrated with some new road signs highlighting the facilities from the A361. The Subway was converted to a Greggs store in August 2020, following a delay caused by the first Coronavirus lockdown.
Upon opening, the forecourt featured a GeniePoint electric vehicle charger but this was removed in early 2024.
The forecourt was acquired by MFG in October 2024, retaining all of its brands and franchises. The fuel provider was later switched to Esso in January 2025, with the valeting facilities also being upgraded.
MFG now intend to add eight MFG EV Power EV chargers to the forecourt along with two additional jet wash bays.
