Trivia and History
While the Beckington Bypass was under construction in 1987, plans were started to build a service station here.
A Petrofina-operated Fina filling station opened, with them calling it 'Bathway services', whilst their partners Norfolk House planned to add a Kelly's Kitchen restaurant next door. This didn't happen and Trusthouse Forte later built a Little ChefHistory and Travelodge hotel next to the filling station, opening in 1994, with both becoming known as the Beckington branches. The restaurant closed in June 2017, reopening as a Starbucks in August 2017.
The filling station was formerly independently owned and branded Texaco with a Smile Local store. In April 2018, it was brought by BP Express and underwent major refurbishment including new pumps, canopy, car and jet washes, a M&S Simply Food store and Wild Bean Cafe unit. The filling station reopened on 3 October 2018. Two BP Pulse electric vehicle charging points were added in 2019, and went live in December 2021.
