Trivia and Design

The Woolley Edge is actually a viewpoint in nearby Woolley.
Due to the steep hills in the area, the north-facing slip roads are very long.
A railway tunnel and coal seams run beneath the services, which made designing it difficult. There is a railway ventilation shaft next to the southbound filling station.
Granada signed a 25 year lease on the land in 2000. The rent is approximately £2.5m per year. In August 2014, Orchard Street paid £35.1m for the land.
An electric vehicle charging hub is currently being built on both sides, with both due to open in late 2022.
