Trivia and Design

The whole site is 5.67 hectares.

The service area has the unfortunate accolade of having needed to be rebuilt twice. The first facilities were regarded as a failure and replaced in 1986. Welcome Break called it one of their most tired sites in 2016, so it was demolished again, replacing the unique octagon building with something much more contemporary.

As the land is such an odd shape, the hotel has been positioned at the end of a long driveway, where it has a large lawn that looks completely unrelated to the main facilities, which are a long walk away.

A Subway store was added to the main building on 12 August 2021.

Four Applegreen Electric charging points were added to the car park in early 2023, adding a third charging option for electric vehicle owners here.
