Proposals for a service area at the new Pevensey Roundabout were developed as part of the Pevensey Bypass in the late 1980s, with Action 2000 proposing a filling station and restaurant at the site in 1986. This was approved following a local inquiry later that same year.

The filling station opened as an Esso forecourt in early 1993, following the completion of the bypass in mid-1990. The restaurant took a little longer, and opened on 9 August 1995 as the 'Pevensey' branch of Little Chef. An official opening ceremony was held, with 'George and Mildred' star Brian Murphy officially opening the restaurant alongside local dignitaries.

The forecourt had Esso's Snack & Shop offering. Esso redeveloped the forecourt in 2007, introducing a new canopy, pumps and a much larger sales building. The new sales building opened as one of Esso's On the Run cafes with a Costa offering.

The Little Chef restaurant closed in 2008. In 2012, McDonald's expressed an interest in the site and planned to open a McDonald's Drive Thru here, but this idea was dropped. The building was purchased by Euro Garages in 2013, who converted the building into a Starbucks store opening in September 2013.

The filling station was very briefly taken over by MRH, over the winter of 2015. It then passed to BP Express, who refitted and reopened it in February 2016 with a M&S Simply Food store and a Wild Bean Café.

A BP Pulse charger was added to the filling station in 2023.
