Trivia and History

The two facilities were built as a Happy Eater and an accompanying petrol station. The restaurant became the Martlesham branch of Little Chef in 1996, which gained a Burger King, but the restaurant closed in 2007, and is now the KFC.

Between 1975 and 1989 Little Chef attempted several times to build a restaurant just north of here on Grove Road, both next to the petrol stations or on the roundabout. They were probably motivated by competition here.
