Trivia and History

In the 1970s, there was a garage and a works depot to the north of the Colsterworth crossroads. Happy Eater turned the garage into a restaurant, and a new forecourt was built where the works depot was. The forecourt was still branded as Total.
Happy Eater actually built two restaurants here. The second, Jubilee Garage, was on the opposite side of the road and is documented elsewhere.
After Granada acquired Happy Eater, they converted it to Little Chef in 1997. With a much larger Little Chef at the previous junction, this branch closed within a year. It was taken over by China Moon Restaurant.
The forecourt was sold to MRH in late 2012 who rebranded the site to BP following Total's nationwide shutdown. MRH went onto add their own-brand Hursts store to the site before new owners MFG rebranded the shop again in Autumn 2021 to Londis.
The service area also provides access to a storage unit, a house, and unusually, a very narrow lane that comes out on Colster Way.
