Talks of adding a restaurant here date back to 1969 when there were plans to replace the showroom. During the 1970s, this became reality and by 1977, documents refer to the site as being home to the 'Roadhog Restaurant'.

By the late 1980s, BP had started planning to turn the site into a full service area, redeveloping their forecourt as well as relocating the restaurant to a separate building and adding a business centre. These plans were granted planning permission on appeal in 1990. Plans were renewed in 1992, and this was extended in 1996.

Trivia and History

McDonald's restaurant.
The McDonald's Drive Thru restaurant.

The service area here started out life as a garage with showroom in 1960, which provided BP and Shell fuel facilities. The site gained a canopy over the pumps in 1971.

Talks of adding a restaurant here date back to 1969 when there were plans to replace the showroom. During the 1970s, this became reality and by 1977, documents refer to the site being home to the 'Roadhog Restaurant'.

It took until 1998 until works commenced on the redevelopment, with the forecourt becoming one of BP's BP Connect sites with a Wild Bean Café offering and the restaurant being built as a McDonald's Drive Thru.

The forecourt closed during August 2008 for a refurbishment, reopening with a new M&S Simply Food store.

BP hold planning permission to extend the sales building.
