Sock Shop (Jumper Ltd; later "The Sock Shop") was introduced by Granada and made its way to most Moto service areas in the early 2000s. It formed a key part of both operators' 'shopping centre' vision.
Sock Shop was created by a former Tie Rack director. Their stores consisted of small units at service stations, railway stations, airports and city centres.
The market for motorway drivers who need to buy socks may not seem significant, but Granada were clear that there was high demand for shopping facilities. The Sock Shop was later removed from Moto's services to make way for more profitable brands such as M&S Simply Food. They continue to trade today as 'SOCKSHOP'.
