Trivia and History
When the Maresfield Bypass was built, provision was included for a service area here. The finished road had an embankment provided for the slip roads. Plans started in 1985 and were put forward by Norfolk House and Forte.
The restaurant here was originally intended to be a Kelly's Kitchen. It was scheduled to open in late 1990, but the whole site eventually opened much later in 1998 with a Little Chef and a Total filling station.

It quickly gained a Burger King Drive Thru but the whole building closed in 2010. There was a plan for it to be converted to a KFC, but it re-opened two years later as a McDonald's Drive Thru instead.
Since 2012 the petrol station has been branded Shell. The filling station closed in late 2018 for major refurbishment works reopening on 22 February 2019 with a refurbished forecourt and Little Waitrose & Partners branded store. A Shell Recharge electric vehicle charging bay was later added to the back of the forecourt in 2021.
