Trivia and History
There was a house on Hovefields Avenue which became a garage in the 1930s. This moved to the other side of the junction in the 1980s. It used to be possible to access the garage in both directions thanks to two gaps in the central reservation, but these have been filled.
The Nevendon branch of Little Chef opened here in 1990 and closed in around 2005. It then became 127diner, Porky's Diner, Café Manhattan, Road House The Diner in 2012 before closing in 2015. The site was later converted to a flooring showroom, Stone4Home, in 2017.
The filling station was previously branded Jet until the early 2010s, when it was rebranded to Shell. The shop has been branded Mace throughout both of these, and continues to be a rare example of Mace on the roadside to this day.
Osprey installed a Shell Recharge electric vehicle charging point here in May 2021, with this site marking their new partnership with Shell.
Revolution Laundry added one of their machines to the forecourt in August 2023.
