Hi there,
Thank you for contributing to Motorway Services Online. It's very important that pages on this site are correct. Each page receives a lot of views each day and readers will be frustrated if they are given information that is incorrect.
Changing the operator of a service station is a big change which is rarely necessary. Changing the field has a knock-on effect on other pages of the site, such as the search engine.
I note that you recently added incorrect operators to two pages of the site - Thurrock, which is well established as being owned by Moto, and Hovefield, which has nothing to do with the Summerhill Applegreen to the west. If you have any doubt, there are two links to maps on that page, a post code, and precise coordinates stored in the code, all of which would have taken you to the exact petrol station in question.
For your own peace of mind, it's good practice to always include an explanation of what you've changed, why, and where your information has come from, in the summary box at the bottom - that's what it's for. This means there can be no doubt about the authenticity or accuracy of your work.
We are very grateful to everybody who offers their time to improve this website, but often people find that there is no more information to add. For this reason, we have a whole section called Help:Where to start (linked to under 'website' at the top of every page), which lists the areas which need the most attention.
As I'm sure you will understand, any professional website would be concerned if they saw incorrect information being added. If it were to keep happening, we would have to take action to safeguard our own content. However, I shouldn't think that would be an issue.
If you have any further concerns, please do let me know by editing under this line. Thanks! Johnathan404 (talk) 22:02, 5 March 2020 (UTC)
