The service area was built in the 1960s as a local facility for the village. Although it became signposted as an official service area, it was effectively an MOT centre that sold fuel, with limited facilities and it would close completely in the evening.
In 2011 the fuel brand changed from Texaco to Harvest Energy. The site closed in June 2020 for conversion to Certas Energy's partner brand Gulf, reopening in October 2020. The pay at pump option meant fuel was now available 24 hours a day.
