Trivia and History

The site was built in 1991 in the corner of this busy roundabout, as the Kilmarnock branch of Little ChefHistory, alongside the hotel and a Q8 petrol station. It was built with spacious surroundings, probably to make use of all the available land.

The Little Chef closed in 2012, and was demolished and replaced by the McDonald's. There had been a plan to try to salvage the old building but it didn't happen.

In the 1970s there was another Little ChefHistory on the A71 a few miles to the east of here, at Galston. There was also a branch on the A77 to the south at Symington, which closed in 2004.

The forecourt shop here was previously branded Spar.
