There was a house on Hovefields Avenue which became a garage in the 1930s. This moved to the other side of the junction in the 1980s. As the A127 nears Southend it has time for one more eastbound service station, positioned at a turning into an industrial estate.

Trivia and History
There was a house on Hovefields Avenue which became a garage in the 1930s. This moved to the other side of the junction in the 1980s. It used to be possible to access the garage in both directions thanks to two gaps in the central reservation, but these have been filled.
The Nevendon branch of Little Chef opened here in 1990 and closed in around 2005. It became 127diner, then Roadhouse The Diner and is now home to a flooring showroom.
