Trivia and History
The facilities here date back to at least the 1980s, when it was a restaurant called Travellers Kitchen. The forecourt appears to have been used to sell cars.
In 1997 there was a plan to add a "Travel Lodge", but this may not necessarily be related to the brand of the same name.
The restaurant name was shortened to 'T.K. Diner', while the forecourt became branded 'Day Today'. In October 2008 the petrol station was taken over by Applegreen, who decided to use their budget brand, 'Discount Fuels'.
In 2016 the forecourt was fully refurbished, and switched over to the main Applegreen branding. At the same time Applegreen acquired the diner building, painted it white and turned it into a Subway and The Bakewell. In 2017 they removed The Bakewell, leaving just the Subway, and painted the building green.
In 2018 Applegreen purchased Welcome Break, and they announced that this new site would be a good candidate to transfer to the new branding.
