Trivia and History

The service area spent many years as a garage, called Clock Garage. This was built at the same time as the neighbouring houses along Sevenoaks Road in around the 1920s.

It became an Esso petrol filling station in around the late 1970s. The site would have been especially attractive as it was close to the new M25, and indeed it reported a 35% increase in sales when the M25 opened.

On the Run branding was added in 2005, but Esso described the site as "tired". A full reconstruction was carried out in 2007, with the car wash being removed to allow for more pumps.

The site was later sold to Rontec in 2015 who added their own-brand Shop'N Drive store and a Subway franchise to the site. The Shop'N Drive store later changed to SPAR in 2018 before becoming a Morrisons Daily store in April 2021.

Pratt's Bottom is the boundary of the 2008 Low Emission Zone (now ULEZ). The roads to the west and the north of the roundabout are inside the zone, but access to the service area is excluded.
