New York Bakery Co. was introduced to some Roadchef service areas in 2021, as part of what they called "the outdoor summer".
At the time, Roadchef urgently needed to increase their sales capacity along busy holiday routes, due to the high demand to holiday at home, as a result of the ongoing pandemic. These new sales points ideally needed to be outdoors, to address any customer concerns about social distancing. This unusual and urgent situation caused Roadchef to experiment with some food brands they hadn't previously worked with, such as New York Bakery Co.
The New York Bakery Co.'s trial site at Strensham went well; the following summer some The Garden Square Deli and Flatstone Pizza Co. outdoor huts were converted to become New York Bakery Co. The remaining, indoor The Garden Square Deli restaurants added New York Bakery Co.'s menu, along with Chozen Noodle's.
New York Bakery Co. has since been integrated into the wider Fresh Food Café offering, with the outdoor pods re-purposed for the 2024 summer season.
