This script automatically generates the results for the gallery pages. To create a new gallery, put {{Picture gallery}} in a gallery page. It will then search for photos which are in the category Category:PAGE NAME pictures, where "PAGE NAME" is the name of the page where you've placed that code. That category is powered by Template:Photo - see Help:Photos for details.

If you want it to search for other galleries too, put {{Picture gallery|SECOND GALLERY}} or {{Picture gallery|SECOND GALLERY|THIRD GALLERY}} . This will affect the title of the page. If you don't want that, silence it with |s = yes .

If the subject of the gallery has nothing to do with Irish motorways, include |country = UK to force it to use the .co.uk version. If it has nothing to do with UK motorways, use |country = IE . Otherwise, use |country = both . If not provided, it will assume "both".

Photos missing from the gallery?

If there are some photos missing from the gallery, the first thing you need to check is that the missing photo is in the correct gallery. The spelling needs to match the gallery name letter-for-letter, including capital letters and apostrophes. (Truth be told, the system above means it can guess some common errors, but it's best not to rely on this.)

To do that, first you need to browse to where the photo is saved. If you can't find it, use Special:NewFiles to see our newest uploads. Tap on your photo, and then go to edit it using the edit button at the bottom. This should load the code with Template:Photo - you're looking for the line with "feature1", and the four lines below it.

The most common cause of the problem is simply that you need to wait, especially if the gallery was only recently created. This is to do with the way the photo page and the gallery page are both cached, so it can take up to 48 hours for them to communicate the new addition to each other.

If the problem is that the collection of photos is right but the count is wrong, this usually means some of the photos are tagged with the wrong spelling. There are a few ways to manipulate the figure (usually involving the variable 'gallery'), but doing that tends to cause further issues.

This template automatically generates a photo gallery. To edit a photo or change which galleries it appears in, you need to open that photo's page.
