Shefford Service Station
Trivia and History
Plans for a service area here on the Shefford bypass were first proposed by Turnkey Developments and local farm owners Polehanger Farms in 1988 with an outline application being submitted for a filling station with car wash and restaurant at this location. The service area eventually opened around 1992 as an Esso filling station with land to the west of the site left for the restaurant to follow.
The site was redeveloped in 2007 gaining a new sales building to replace the existing. The new sales building opened as a Tesco Express store.
