Snowy Motorways

In 2010, Hampshire saw a little bit of snow. This caught everybody by surprise, as these two images show.

Vehicles abandoned on the A3(M). Further up the road, so many vehicles were abandoned that those stuck behind them had to spend the night on the road.

The M27 unbuilt services slip road comes into use as an area for abandoning vehicles which couldn't make it up the full slip road.

A brief flurry of snow hit the south east in December 2022, which was guaranteed to cause a problem.

Midnight on the M25 in Hertfordshire, and lorries are stuck in the snow.

Nearer Potters Bar, and the eastbound carriageway looks like rush hour when it's nearly 1am, and the westbound carriageway is a mess of stuck cars. This sort-of thing often happens when snow hits a specific area in the evening, but it's rarely captured on camera.
