A34 Old Photos
In this gallery I have some old photos of the A34 I have been sent which I wanted to share with you - so here we go. They are shown in chronological order, though by coincidence they go broadly south-to-north.

Three Maids Hill, junction of the A34 and A272 near Winchester, under construction in 1967. Two slip roads have been opened to allow traffic to join the old A34 north of here, which is still single carriageway. The dual carriageway north of here didn't arrive until the 1980s, at which point another roundabout was added to this junction. The road to the south is the new bypass of Winchester.
The Tufton Crossroads under construction - this junction was finally closed in 2017. A new carriageway was placed next to the existing one.
A dual carriageway with bollards forms to highlight the bend as the road goes under the arch. The sign at the end says "keep left".
Roadworks for the construction of the Whitway Diversion, at Beacon Hill. Traffic is being routed up the southbound onslip.
The excellent Sainsbury Archive has inadvertently released this picture of the A34 in Newbury in 1994, showing typical traffic conditions on the northbound carriageway.
