J3-4, 14th September

My visit through the M27 widening works on the 14th September, where some of the new gantries are now in place. Here's what it looked like:

Entering the roadworks heading west. Already you can see one of the new gantries.

The M3 joins, and quite a lot of work has taken place on the verge. The usual delays can be seen on the other side.

We're not even past the services yet and lane one is crawling.

Unusually though, this time it's cleared on the approach to J3. Yet again there's more evidence of progress on the verge.

Aside from the two end ones, all of the gantries here will be 'superspan', which means that they will cross both carriageways. This is particularly useful here where the junctions are pretty close. That sign is going to be quite tall!

Having turned around and rejoined the eastbound carriageway, there's lots of work going on here.

Looks like it's still queueing this way, and on a Sunday too.

Why pay for a superspan super-gantry when half of it is going to be hidden behind a bridge?

At least the traffic has picked up now.

I wonder why one lane is marked by studs and the other paint?

It looks like I've ran out of things to say now. I've even asked about the lane markings.

I can't even say what a nice day it is.

Yet another driver who doesn't understand the concept of a tiger-tail merge, although I do believe that these ghost islands are far too wide and far too long.

I can't even think of a way to finish this gallery.
