J3-4, 8th June
My visit through the M27 widening works on the 8th June, where the central reservation had just been finished and the attention of the works is now turning to the verge. Here's what it looked like:
Starting today heading west at J4, this new sign prepares us for the works.
This picture says absolutely nothing about the roadworks, but it does show quite an advanced warning sign.
Approaching the works - get in lane!
The new barrier and a queues likely sign which, hopefully, will be able to be removed after the works.
Traffic whizzes on from the M3.
That lane comes to a bit of an abrupt end there, it can't be fun at rush hour.
A temporary barrier, which will eventually be replaced by a lift-able one.
I think there's a small depot next to the slip road, hence the restriction.
After the services, and lane one is as busy as usual.
Everyone smile for the camera.
Joining the eastbound carriageway at J3.
On the mainline again - I wouldn't want to reach the end of that acceleration lane.
Another temporary barrier.
I must say, no matter what people say about urbanisation, I think that barrier looks really neat.
I wouldn't quite go as far as to say that I find it attractive, but you know, each to their own.
It is a bit intimidating though.
Approaching the M3 junction.
That large lump on the barrier is, I believe, to support a gantry and isn't the result of a mistake during the slipforming.
The end of the new barrier.
