Possible explanation for the "Ladies Only" hotel spaces
I was interested to see the bit about the "Ladies Only" spaces, and I think I may know one possible reason why they could have existed. Some hotel chains have rules for safeguarding at-risk people, especially so alone women. Often this is such things as intentionally giving out rooms with easy access to lifts/good CCTV incase of stalkers etc. The two parking spaces could have been "safe" spots in the car park that were particularly hidden/well lit etc, so were especially reserved for women travellers. Of course, this is still a bit weird by todays standards (as of course its not just women that are at risk of these dangers), but it might by why such a seemingly-archaic thing was created.
