Photo: West Cornwall Pasty Kiosk - Moto Knutsford Southbound.jpeg

Original file(960 × 1,280 pixels, file size: 370 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)

The West Cornwall Pasty kiosk at Knutsford, situated outside the Southbound amenity building. WCP would’ve opened at Knutsford around 2011/12, installed so customers can purchase snacks from the site, but not enter the amenity building. This is particularly helpful at Knutsford given the cramped nature of its interior. However, the limited green space available here means customers may block the way to the entrance when this unit is busy with queuing customers. There is plenty of outdoor seating which customers of WCP can use in more clement weather than today (Feb). Moto began using West Cornwall Pasty to mitigate the quantity of customers entering amenity buildings when their sites are busy. This kiosk wouldn’t have replaced anything except some spare space outside the amenity building. West Cornwall Pasty Co are one of Moto’s brands which rapidly inflate their prices due to motorway demand. This means WCP is limited in popularity as customers are put off by higher prices and don’t seem to think their product range is value of money. This WCP kiosk hasn’t changed much since installation as West Cornwall Pasty have never changed their logo or theme colours (they’ve always been black and yellow). Beside this kiosk is a Revolution laundrette machine, which is fairly new. There is also one at the Northbound car park. WCP does manage to pick up custom from its obvious position outside the amenity building. Greggs, in comparison, is situated on the footbridge, which is timely/difficult to access, and not as obvious, for some people who just want a bakery snack or hot drink, so some customers end up at WCP. There is no West Cornwall Pasty kiosk on the Northbound side. West Cornwall Pasty Co was very quiet during my visit, with just one single customer using the unit. This is because there’s not as much demand during the winter months, when the site is a bit quieter and customers would rather eat inside. West Cornwall Pasty isn’t advertised at all around the site, as it’s clear from the exterior and isn’t deemed as one of Knutsford’s core brands. It’s this reason that West Cornwall Pasty isn’t included on any motorway signposts for Knutsford, so stopping customers won’t know West Cornwall Pasty is here if they’ve never visited Knutsford Southbound before.
