Subway sandwich store at Stop 24 Folkestone, situated left of the main entrance, opposite customer seating, between KFC and Chopstix. Subway is a well known brand, attracting a large fan-base of customers. Subway is a popular at motorway services as it makes food courts more varied in what they are able to provide customers. The idea that you can customise your food at Subway is attractive for customers. Subway has a strong presence on the roads due to their partnerships with MFG, EuroGarages & Welcome Break. Many petrol stations across the UK house small Subway outlets. When EuroGarages purchased former Little Chef buildings in the 2010s, the larger ones made into "mini foodcourts" would mostly contain a Subway. During 2013-2015, Welcome Break refurbished most of their food courts, replacing sit-down dining provided by "Eat In" with various takeaway units and a shared seating area. Subway was included in these refurbs & can still be found at most Welcome Break sites today. Subway has traded at Stop 24 since 2013 & is typically busier than the independent outlets here, such as Don Air & Curried Away. It's a fairly small takeaway unit with no seating of its own, so customers have to use communal seating opposite. Subway was refurbished quite recently, changing to their new logo & the walls from a dark green to a light green, making the unit seem much brighter. This photo also shows the large interior of Folkestone, with its high ceilings & heavy use of windows throughout the amenity building, flooding the place with natural lighting. My photo also shows cleaning paraphernalia & a liquid waste point. Subway doesn't tend to inflate their motorway prices & this branch at Folkestone is no exception. The lower cost of products here makes the brand more affordable for customers. Subway was rather quiet as I visited despite it being 12pm, a time you'd expect Subway to be particularly popular. This is mostly due to the lack of custom the site obtains generally, rather than Subway alone, as all the units were eerily quiet. Subway is signposted from both directions of the M20 so motorists of the M20 are aware it's present at Stop 24. Subway isn't advertised much around the site however, apart from the small totem pole outside the main entrance. Stop 24 seem to keep the exterior of Folkestone quite plain. The future of this Subway is uncertain, with the addition of drive thru lanes at the site, reducing the amount of trade in the amenity building, as well as a fitness suite opening, taking up space inside the amenity building.
