Pizza Express restaurant at Fleet Southbound, situated at the front of the amenity building. Seems pointless having a brand such as this at a services where nowadays it’s largely about efficiency & takeaway food, but before these franchised outlets the food offering at services was largely in sit-down restaurant format, like Pizza Express. It grabs a fair amount of trade, but the time of day meant it was empty (around 11:30). Pizza Express was first introduced to MSAs in Oct 2017 at Oxford & has spread to a few Welcome Break/Extra sites. Pizza food outlets have had a tough time at motorway services, with the failure of brands such as Domino’s & Pizza Hut Express, but Pizza Express, although not very wide-spread, hasn’t closed. This restaurant isn’t signposted from the road either side but it’s the most obvious brand at Southbound as it’s large and at the front of the building.
