Photo: McDonald’s (with Drive Thru) - Extra Blackburn with Darwen.jpeg

McDonald’s outlet at Blackburn with Darwen, situated at the far end of the amenity building in a separate building. Between 2002-2007, Blackburn was branded as McDonalds entirely despite it also having LP4. This is the same as Cullompton, as they were both built as small Margram sites. McD is the most important brand here and brings in lots of custom. McDonald’s is advertised around the building and from the road, but it isn’t signposted as a drive thru, meaning customers will be surprised to have the quicker option of collecting McDonald’s food without entering the building. McD has its own seating area, meaning it copes well to cater for customers when the site is busier. McDonald’s aren’t generally set up like this at motorway services, instead being set amongst other brands in a food court. This makes Blackburn feel even less like a motorway services. McDonald’s was surprisingly quiet during my visit but the site was practically empty.
