Exterior of Michaelwood Southbound, appearing rather small & basic. This building is partially beige, whereas the Northbound side is completely black. It’s fairly well maintained & seems tidy. Opened in 1971 by Mobil, Michaelwood has gradually grown to a full motorway stop given the various extensions it has had over the years. Branding advertisements are included for Starbucks and Waitrose. Michaelwood declined somewhat in 2014 when Gloucester Services opened just down the motorway. It was moderately busy during my visit, but this was due to it being the holiday (all M5 stops experience a peak this time of year).
