Customer seating at Clacket Lane Westbound, located in the centre of various food outlets. It’s a large seating area, only occupied by two brands now. The layout of seating here changed significantly when McDonalds opened in 2012 & caused the refurbishment of the food court. It crosses the main walkway from the entrance to the toilets, and once in the seating area, you have to walk a long way round to leave and return to the main walkway. Roadchef have created this confusing layout so customers have to walk past every facility the site offers, increasing the likelihood of trade. Between 1993 and 2008, Clacket Lane West was considered the largest service area in the country with a bright interior. It’s not downsized at all, it’s just larger sites have been built locally, making it seem smaller in comparison. Seating was fairly clean during my visit and all ready for Christmas! Seating wasn't in much demand during my visit as the seating area was basically empty, like the entire site.
