Photo: Burger King - Moto Knutsford Northbound.jpeg

Original file(960 × 1,280 pixels, file size: 308 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)

Burger King fast food outlet at Knutsford Northbound, situated beside the mini seating area and Costa, opposite WHSmith, on the ground floor. Burger King would’ve opened at Knutsford as early as 1993 as this is when the Pavilion began using them due to their love of brand names (Pavilion operated Knutsford between 1992-1997 before being sold to Granada). Unsure what it replaced. BK, despite being large enough, lacks any customer seating of its own so customers are expected to use the adjacent communal seating, reserved for this and Costa. BK trading from Knutsford for such a long time means long-term drivers of this section of M6 will associate Knutsford with Burger King, as with other Moto sites. During my visit I got lunch from BK, and most menu items were unavailable. Unsure whether Burger King at Knutsford North always has stock issues, but it was fairly disappointing for a midday visit. It’s likely that both BK locations at either side of Knutsford will be impacted by the opening of the new KFC on the footbridge, taking custom from the Burger Kings, reducing their profit at Knutsford. If this continues, Moto may look to push BK “to the side” and possibly close/replace them. Northbound’s Burger King was refurbished around 2019, slightly later than Southbound’s. BK’s location within the amenity building does it favours as it’s level accessed, making it simpler to reach for less able groups. Its proximity to the main entrance makes it immediately obvious for passing customers. As with all motorway Burger Kings, the pricing structures seem to be a significant issue. Burger King keep operators satisfied by inflating their prices, & with additional motorway inflation, Burger King is simply not value for money & will leave you feeling ripped off. Transport Focus highlighted Moto as one of the worst value for money motorway services operators, contrasting from Roadchef who were praised. The main issue for Moto was their Burger King’s price inflation, and Roadchef doesn’t experience this with McDonald’s. This pic also evidences Burger King’s 2010s logo, along with several self-service machines, some of which weren’t operable. Burger King was surprisingly quiet for lunchtime, but it could be due to customers being put off by the lack of stock, taking custom else where. BK is signposted from the M6 Northbound, so customers expect to find it here. Additionally, Burger King is advertised lots around the site, as it’s one of Knutsford North’s core brands.
