Not your average Little Chef entrance. Alfreton Services was built by Granada in about 1989. Originally planned to be like an MSA as Swanwick Services it was instead built as a Granada hotel. Essentially this was a slightly more upmarket motel with restaurant which, in 1994, was bought by Forte and changed into a Little Chef and Travelodge. Those brands remain, despite many changes of ownership, as does the 80s fancy motel entrance from the car park.
